The Date of Najd
Sullaj belongs to the towns of Sudair — Al-Majma'ah and Hawtat Sudair north of Riyadh — where its palms have lined the wadis for centuries. It was the date of Najdi caravans because it travels well, and Najd families still send it as a gift to relatives in the cities.
Taste & Character
A long, faintly translucent amber fruit with semi-dry flesh that holds together as you chew, and a moderate, clean honeyed sweetness. Mostly eaten as tamr, it is ideal for packing and long storage.
Cultivation
Grown across the Riyadh region and central Saudi Arabia, and recorded in parts of the south as well. Harvested mid-season, it balances palm productivity with fruit quality.
