Segai Dates تمر الصقعي

Segai is a heritage date of Al-Qassim; its name derives from 'saq'a', the pale crown at the top of the fruit. It was once reserved for honoured guests in Najdi majlis gatherings and kept for months in the clay jassa without losing its shape.

Its unique two-tone look is unmistakable: the upper half golden, dry and crisp; the lower half brown and tender. Sweetness is light and elegant, with a fibrous body that rewards slow chewing — the choice of those who find other dates too sweet.

Because it holds its form, Segai is arranged in wooden and velvet gift boxes and counts among the most refined offerings at Eid and formal occasions, often studded with almond or walnut.
