Origin & History
The name Khalas means 'essence' or 'quintessence' — the variety Al-Ahsa has been famed for over centuries. Its palms are irrigated by the oasis's natural springs, and its fruit graces tables across the Gulf.
Taste & Character
Caramel and honey notes with moderate sweetness, and a moist, balanced body that makes it the ideal companion to Arabic coffee. Enjoyed both fresh (rutab) and cured.
Khalas in the Economy
Khalas is the backbone of the Eastern Province's date exports and has been traded in Hofuf's historic markets and Souq Al-Qaisariya for generations.
